So you're looking for the low down on worldwide tours. There are literally hundreds of companies that offer tours throughout the world, all ranging from expensive to budget friendly. The trick is finding the right one for you! We prefer the usual backpacking gig and adding in a few short tours ranging from a few hours to a few days. The long tours, in our opinion, are good if you are short on time, but if you have the time stick with the short tours and be your own tour guide for the rest. Below are some of the company's websites that we have come across that offer tours mostly in the budget friendly range.
You may not agree with organized tour companies and want the true backpacking experience, but this doesn't necessarily mean tours are bad. Even if you call yourself a true backpacker, you probably still have taken a tour in the past and will again in the future. They are hard to avoid. They are great for short stay to see a lot of the city or even just great to look at what the itinerary has to offer so you can get a quick low down on what you should see and do.
Some things you should look for in a tour company is a good reputation, the cost, company's target market (you don't want to be a backpacker stuck in a seniors' geared tour), safety rating, tour guides and reviews (read comments left by others to see if the tour is right for you).
See below for some reputable and fair-priced tour companies.
