This holiday season was different than most, especially for Jexy. This year we decided to go away for the holidays, we went with Chris’s family & friends to somewhere that was much warmer than the frosty weather that we were experiencing here in Ontario. This meant that Jexy had/chose to leave her family behind during a time of festivities, which was not something that was, at first, easy to do...
Disney World is a whole city of its own, if you’ve never been there just know that it is pretty freakin’ big compared to most amusement parks. It contains 6 theme/water parks as well as a few shopping areas, ferry services and 34 differently themed hotels & resorts right there within an area of 30,080-acres (121.7 km2). Downtown Disney is really neat, it’s very themed and the shops contain everything you can think of just Disney-fied; from cups to soaps even food items. It’s a true experience coming to Disney World. Oh also within Disney there’s an entire world of Lego, where many different Disney characters are created out of little blocks of Lego – and we’re not talking small Lego characters, they were bigger than some of the buildings! On Tuesday morning we were invited for a buffet-style breakfast (complimentary for those who are time-share holders) in a little town called Celebration. Celebration, Florida is a little cute planned community designed by the Walt Disney Company. This unique small town features signature homes with welcoming front porches and white picket fences. Celebration’s charming centerpiece, Market Street, features enticing boutiques and gift shops, and wonderful eateries located around a beautiful lakeside promenade. This traditional community boasts unique architecture, waterfront views and great shopping and dining. If you visit Orlando and have extra money lying around, you may want to take a trip to Universal Studios. Universal Studios consists of two theme parks (Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure), Universal CityWalk (a night-time entertainment destination), and three Loews Hotels. Go behind the scenes, beyond the screen, and jump right into the action of Universal Studios' movies and films at Universal Studios Florida as this is a park dedicated to let the visitor’s “Ride the Movies”. The remainder of my stay in Portimao was spent relaxing on the beach with numerous bottles of inexpensive wine. The wine was modest in price in comparison to the cost of wine here in Ontario, yet the grape varieties were unique to the Country and much of what I drank was quite delicious. Public intoxication is looked down upon by the older generation in the country, but is something that is not too harshly policed. In fact, I’m fairly certain it’s legal to drink on the streets there and no one seemed to have a problem with me doing it. So, I really got to sampling what the country had to offer. |
