1. Who are you? Tell us about who you are personally, away from your blog. Professionally I am a PA in a medical organization. I live in London with my husband. So, I lead pretty normal life. It will sound a little lame, but I love books and read around 4 books a month, and of course I love to travel and write. 2. What is the focus of your blog? What niche does your blog offer and what is your favourite thing to blog about? Well, I don’t have a specific niche yet. I just enjoy writing and thought the blog would be a great platform to practice my writing and meet other people. But I enjoy discovering unknown places. I also read about places I visit, do extended research, listen to other travelers and then do something, which other people don’t usually do. Thanks to that I found a few beautiful parks in Bangkok, stayed in Dien Bien Phu a couple of days, and watched the sunset in Bagan, not from the Sunset Pagoda, but from an unknown temple in the middle of nowhere – this one was the most amazing. There were only 2 of us on the top of the temple and no people around, but the view was as amazing as from the more popular place. It took us 2 days to find the perfect spot. |

We really should have spent more than 2 weeks here. Every time we talk about the places we love a lot Galicia, is always top on the list. We were able to see some of the incredible ocean views and white pearly sand that Galicia is known for. We are thankful that we were able to meet Eva and Alex, and they were kind and invited us back to their home town. We met them in the north of Spain while HelpXing and then met them again at Oktoberfest in Germany. This is where all the imagined pictures of Spain just came to life and blew your mind at the same time. Between the people we met, views we saw, the family we got to be apart of for those 2 weeks Galicia was an incredible place to be. But we thank Alex and Eva, and their families that showed us a completely different side of Spain than what we had already seen. HelpXing is one of the most amazing and rewarding forms of traveling. There are always up and downs, but in the end it's an unforgettable experience. As a traveller that strives for the culture and traditions and tend to by pass lots of the touristy shit, we love to HelpX abroad.
Way too many people never push their boundaries and explore outside the major cities. I have been to Bulgaria twice and both times I've met people in Sofia, that have only planned to visit Sofia, Plovdiv and Sunny Beach. 1. Who are you? Tell us about who you are personally, away from your blog. I’m Johnny, from Northern Ireland, in my late twenties. I’ve been avoiding the cubicle all my life, and apart from a stint in an office in Australia, I’ve manage to steer clear of a ‘real job’ up until now! After Chris came back home from his first trip to Europe all he could talk about was Bulgaria. Anything and everything was about how amazing Bulgaria was and how much fun he had. It got so bad, he was starting to annoy a lot of people, like me. Bulgaria this, Bulgaria that, it's all we ever fucking heard about. But I started to learn why he love the country after landing in Sofia.
The thing he talked about the most was his experience camping by himself at the Devils Bridge. He talked about how beautiful it was, how stupid he was for getting stuck rock climbing and how amazing and peaceful it was. After spending a week in beautiful apartment in Sunny Beach, we decided that we were sick of always staying in hostels and apartments. We were really craving that road trip feel, so why not rent a car and hit the road? So I was HelpXing on a winery in Folkstone, England for about a month to learn more about wine and for the free accommodations and meals. While there another worker from Argentina and I both had a day off and were wondering what was near Folkstone that would be worth the visit? Someone had suggested to go to over to Dover Castle in Dover, so we did. So after a ride into town and a bus to Dover, we realized that we were stupid and forgot the directions to get to the castle. So after asking people time and time again we reached the White Cliffs of Dover. "Fuck I have to walk up that hill” I thought, but at least there was an amazing looking castle just waiting to be explored at the top to keep me motivated. |
